The AAUW, Salisbury Branch met on Thursday May 10, 2012 at the Trinity Oaks Retirement Community at 6:30 PM in the Special Events Room. The following members were present: Brunetta Franklin, Holly Czuba, Billie Simmons, Kathy Pulliam, Edith Alcorn, Linda Hauze, Linda Kesler, Becky Hammill, Patricia Trueblood, Ruby Walker, Norma Goldman, Erma Scarlette, Harriet Murphy, Lollie Streiff, Betty Fellows, Carolyn Blackman, and Bonnie Hodges. The following members were absent: Lori Eberly, Eileen Hanson-Kelly Nancy Bilson, Kathy Taber, Carol Cody, Catrelia Hunter, Nicole Sherrill-Corry, Zebbie Bradley-Bondurant, Greg Alcorn, Elaine Stiller, Ann Medlin, Alyce Lanier, Renee McCachren, Jeannie Sherrill, Judy Grissom, Dixie Scott, Kyndall Moore, and Donna Wiseman. Guests attending: Kelly Snipes (new member), Watson Murphy, Amy Smith, Linda Heeg-Krause, Patricia Long, Goldman Scholars- Alex Yarborough, Jade Lomax and her parents, and the parents of Melisa Hollar.

Brunetta Franklin, President, welcomed everyone to the picnic, which was catered by Debbie Suggs. Goldman Scholars were introduced and each one briefly told their plans for the next school year. Jade Lomax, NRHS graduate, will be attending NCSU majoring in Animal Science, Melisa Hollar, ERHS graduate, will be attending UNC majoring in Music Ed with emphasis in Special Ed, and Alex Yarborough will continue her graduate studies at Pharmacy School. Other guests were introduced and Brunetta welcomed our two new members Kyndall Moore and Kelly Snipes. Watson Murphy gave the blessing and everyone enjoyed the picnic.

Brunetta recognized Norma Goldman of the Goldman Family who started the Goldman Scholars program in memory of Helen S. and Julius L. Goldman. Brunetta shared some background information about the Goldman Scholarship.

Installation of new officers for 2012-2014:

The Nomination Committee nominated Holly Czuba for the position of Program Vice-President. A motion was made by Linda Hauze and seconded by Harriet Murphy to accept the nomination. The motion was carried.

The Nomination Committee nominated Dr. Patricia Trueblood for the position of Secretary. A motion was made by Holly Czuba and seconded by Linda Hauze to accept the nomination. The motion was carried.

Brunetta welcomed our new officers.

Kyndall Moore was appointed LAF/Education chair by Brunetta and she was welcomed as well. Brunetta thanked all members for a successful year.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45.
